Who are we?
SNICU
Parents' Group is a registered charity set up and run by parents whose
babies have been cared for by the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
at Southmead Hospital.
One of the largest in the South West, the Unit provides specialist intensive
and high dependency care for babies who have a range of special health
problems that put their lives at risk.
What do we do?
Our aim at SNICU Parents' Group
is to fundraise for the Unit so that more babies can receive the specialist
support and care they need to survive and thrive as well as providing
emotional support to parents of sick children.
To this end we organise
regular fundraising events and use the money raised to buy essential equipment
and improve the Units facilities and services.
We work with the staff on various projects for the long-term benefit of
the children. For example, arranging joint publicity for fundraising events
and sponsorship for staff to attend conferences and specialist training.
We provide emotional and social support to babies, parents and families
by a mixture of individual support and year round social events such as:
- The
Annual Summer Fayre and Toddlers' Marathon
-
Christmas Party for the children of the Unit
-
Weekly attendance at the Unit by volunteers from the Group
We are also responsible
for the safe administration of the charity.
